Industry News: Interview with Peter Mwololo, Owner of Scootercatalog.com

Please tell us about your business. - We are an e-commerce store based on a secure Yahoo platform. We offer electric and gas scooters, mobility scooters, go-karts, kids ride-on toys, other recreation vehicles and replacement parts.

How did you get started in this industry? - We started back in 2003, selling only electric scooters. Over the past few years, we've expanded into the other product lines including replacement and performance parts.

What is unusual or unique about your business, in comparison to your competitors or similar businesses? - We specialize in closely related products and continuously expand our product line of complementary items. We pride ourselves in having unique offerings that are not available in offline retail stores.

What are some of the greatest challenges your business faces? - We started the e-commerce store with little experience, so that was one hurdle. Now we face new regulations on gas powered vehicles such as ATVs.

Did you see an effect on your business from the economy? - While business has been ok to a larger extent, (all thanks to our great customers), we believe that the state of the economy has affected the purchasing power of our customers.
