Chinese CDI Manufacturer- Interview & Perspective

Please tell us a little about yourself: My English name is Terry and my Chinese name is Ronzhen Huang. I graduated from Nanjing Finance and Economic University. Our company is a supplier of performance CDIs to  international consumers, including Universal Parts and Partsforscooters.com.

Please tell us about your company and where you are located: My company is made up of an innovative team that is dedicated to producing high performance CDIs and parts to the international market. We are located near Ningbo, China, which is known for being an automobile and motorcycle spare parts manufacturing hub.

What other parts do you manufacture?: We specialize in CDIs, but we also manufacture ignition systems such as  ignition coils, stators, flashers, relays and much more. We are looking into expanding our product line to include performance exhaust systems as well.

As a Chinese manufacturer, what are some issues and challenges you encounter while running your business?: I have several answers:

1. I think a lack of funding and small business loans are a big problem for manufacturers in China. It's not easy to obtain capital here and that restricts growth. Without funding, it's hard to update equipment, improve existing product and introduce new product lines.

2.  In general, it's difficult for us to introduce advanced manufacturing techniques. Products need to be improved and we need the skilled workers to achieve this.

3. Sales and marketing is the last hurdle we face. We need to find the buyers for our product. It is a competitive market and we need to strive to better serve our existing customers while gaining new ones.

Some people feel that Chinese made performance parts are not as good as ones produced in Japan or Taiwan. What is your opinion concerning this thought?: A lot needs to be considered. There are parts that cannot compare to Japans quality or any other country for that matter. But, there are plenty of Taiwanese and Japanese companies that contract their work to China. This brings more advanced manufacturing techniques to us and also proves that many Chinese made parts are comparable, it's just that consumers dont know it yet.

When the price is low, people think that it is poor quality or "cheap". What some fail to realize is that the average working wage in China is 1/10th that of Japanese workers. Because of this  we are able to offer lower prices while providing the same quality product. Taiwan has been ahead of China in quality because of the name brand products from Yamaha and Honda being manufactured there. This has all changed and we are catching up.

What is the best selling product for you this year?: Performance CDIs, racing regulators and power ignition coils.

What are the quality control steps your company takes?: We are strict with where we get our raw material from and we only purchase from famous Chinese companies. We have a defined manufacturing process and most importantly, we randomly test each product continually for 72 hours after production. >>>continued on right>>>
