Ultra Motor-A2B Metro

There's a new electric bike out from Ultra Motor. Hailed as a "High-Performance" bike, the A2B Metro looks like an American pedal mountain bike made it with a Chinese electric moped/bike. Ultra Motor sent our good friends over at Sargents Motorsports a sample bike to try out and that's when I got my hands on it.

Immediately I noticed the qualty and style. This bike is well engineered and has great lines. It handles great and runs on lithium ion batteries, but it only has a top speed of 15.5 mph and a max distance of 20 miles. It has a hefty $2500 retail price tag and with the amount of new styles of Chinese made electric bikes coming into the US that can go faster and farther for $600 retail...we just arent that sure how the A2B will fit in.

My opinion: if you have $2500 extra bucks to spend (not many of us do) and you want an electric bike, go for it. For me, I'd rather buy a less expensive model with the same features and save the extra cash for a needed vacation. Story by: Sean Lucas

They're back..............................

Z50MonkeybikeThe Z50 mini-bike, AKA "Monkey Bike" is back and in a big way. Not just from Honda anymore, these little guys have taken on a name of their own from the scores of American gear heads and speed happy Japanese teenagers. They've pushed the limits of performance parts for this bike and now we get to offer all of them to our customers! Here's a little history on how the Z50 came to be...

Back in 1959, Soichiro Honda opened up a shop in Los Angeles, CA. At that time the only image Americans had of motorcylce riders was one of criminals and rebels. His goal was to change that view and open up the American market for his easy to ride/easy to own motorcycles. With this came about the most famous marketing campaign in American power sports history, "You meet the nicest people on a Honda!"

YoumeetthenicestpeopleonaHondaIn 1961 the Trail Cub, CA 100T Trail 50 was launched. The step-through frame design and low acceleration power and top speed appealed to a large American market. The Trail Cub used a 50cc four-stroke engine with a 3 speed automatic clutch. That is the exact same engine that we now know today as the "Honda style, horizontal cylinder 4-stroke". Because of its bullet proof design and ease of use, this engine has made it's way in to just about every Chinese and Asian made powersports vehicle. These vehicles include Full-size street scooters, Z50 monkey bikes, mopeds, Dirt bikes, ATVs, off-road karts, super pocket bikes, mini-choppers and many more.

YoumeetthenicestpeopleonaHondaThe first real minibike from Honda made exclusively for the dirt was the Z50 Mini-Trail in 1968. Looking like a funky little bug, the three-speed unit had fold-up handlebars to make it portable. No need for a truck and trailer, this baby could fit in a car trunk.

With sales reaching over 450,000 units from Honda alone, the Z50 still holds the record as American Honda's all-time best-selling bike, and is responsible for introducing off-road dirt bike riding to more people than any other model in history.

YoumeetthenicestpeopleonaHondaFollowing the success of the Z50, another trail bike was released in 1969. The CT70, known as the Trail-70, was another solid unit produced by Honda. Powered by a 72cc 4-stroke with a 3 speed auto clutch or 4 speed manual clutch, this one was a favorite with adults.

Although the CT70 remained pretty much unchanged from 1969 until it's last 1982 production year, it ranks as Honda's third best selling model ever, with over 380,000 units sold.
